New bike hire service launched

News & Insights
This autumn we’ve added a new service for occupiers – free bike hire. The Blade bikes are now available for occupiers and their teams to hire free of charge during lunch breaks. All bikes can be hired for up to two hours.

With a 37 mile cycle network across Reading our offices have always included bike storage, ensuring that those living locally can cycle to and from work, safe in the knowledge that they will always have somewhere to store their bike safely. Showers and changing facilities are also available.

We appreciate that many of the teams who work here are desk based and enjoy breaking away from the office at lunchtime for time outside and fresh air. Our close proximity to the River Thames also opens up picturesque cycling options along the tow path with the Thames Path National Trail, Sustrans routes and the new King Alfred’s way offering good options for a lunchtime ride. Cycling at lunchtime offers a range of physical, mental, and productivity-related benefits. Research shows that even a short ride can increase energy for the rest of the day, boosting productivity and counteracting the typical afternoon slump.

Here at The Blade we’ve always been keen to promote physical fitness and using alternative forms of transport other than cars. Our location, near to Reading Station, ensures that commuting by train is simple and the excellent bus network across the town helps too.

Four bikes are now available, as well as helmets in different sizes. All bikes are numbered so they can be easily located and returned, and are located at the back of The Blade’s car park on the lower ground floor. Bookings aren’t required, and the service works on a simple first come, first served basis – just complete a form at reception and that’s it!

We hope all our occupiers are excited about this new service and look forward to seeing them making use of the bikes and enjoying their lunchtime rides!
